AMERICANS' VIEWS ON EBT ARE ABHORRENT.
it's not only disgusting that our current government is putting all the blame on democrats for the loss of EBT/SNAP benefits (with absolutely abhorrent xenophobic and transphobic language being used on the official USDA website), but also that a good amount of people in this country cling to the "welfare queen" myth and cheer for the starvation of millions of people.

i'm not even going to get into the disgusting language being used in this so-called official government announcement encouraging xenophobia and transphobia.
growing up, my family had to use WIC benefits when my youngest brother was born. we didn't live in luxury from those benefits. one memory i still have is standing there in a tiny grocery store and picking out a box of cereal from a very limited eligible selection because that's all i would be able to have for breakfast.
even after those benefits ran out, servings were limited at home. seconds weren't really a thing. i rarely felt full save for the larger family dinners on weekends my parents' budget allowed for. i relied on free/discounted school lunch and honed in on friends' lunches they didn't finish. by the end of my senior year of high school, i was underweight at 95 pounds.
i am thankful to be in a better position living on my own, but it still hurts to hear people talk down to others receiving these benefits. the american way should be a melting pot of kindness, generosity, and empathy. instead, it's a crumbling country riddled with greed and individualism.
please donate money to your local food bank if you're in a good financial situation to do so. monetary donations go much farther than food donations, because food banks can buy what they need at prices that get them more food than what your dollar can get at grocery stores. they need support more than ever. help one another, form community, and fight back against the government trying to sow bigotry among the impoverished.
